All OSB members should have an entry in the Member Data
database. Be sure to keep
your email address (especially) and other data current. Section
Leaders will have access to data for members of their sections. It
requires login; if you are a member of OSB,
you should have received a name and password; just click the link
to log in. If you don't have a name and password,
or you have problems using it, please contact the webmaster.

OSB Membership Guidelines
as agreed upon by the OSB Board of Directors and Section Leaders
Updated 10/20/2005
Criteria and Standards for OSB Membership
Playing Ability. All members will be capable of playing
advanced HS/college literature (grade 5+)
Reliability: Members will come to rehearsals on time,
prepared, and give adequate notice to their section leader when they
are unavailable to play.
Congeniality. being personable and considerate of others,
is essential for the group to function cohesively
Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances
in each series.
Substitute Policy
One planned (scheduled) absence per series (either a rehearsal
or performance) is allowed and should be discussed with the Section
Leader or Manager. If more time away is needed the Section Leader or
Manager will inform and/or consult with the Personnel Director and
Conductor to determine if the member should be allowed to perform
the series or if a substitute should perform.
If there are any planned absences, member must communicate with
their Section Leader or Section Manager and find an appropriate
substitute (see Criteria and Standards for Membership).
The Section Leader or Section Manager will help provide contact
information but it is ultimately the player’s responsibility to
provide a temporary replacement.
Emergency situations (health, family crisis etc.) are an
exception to the above. Please inform Section Leader, Section
Manager or OSB Board member as soon as possible.
Leave Of Absence
Members must request a “Leave of Absence”, if they plan to be
gone from the band for up to one year (three consecutive series).
They must submit their intent in writing to the Section Leader,
Section Manager or the OSB Board for the stated period of time.
While the member is gone, a substitute will be obtained. If the
member does not return after the specified period, his/her seat will
be forfeited. The member will have to wait until an opening is
available.
More about
registering your computer to display members' schedule on the Home Page
If you click this
link (or the one at the top of the page) it will set a "cookie" on
your computer that tells this website to show you a 4-week members'
bulletin board on the Home Page whenever you visit it. Many websites use
cookies for this purpose; they can be read only by the website that sets
them (in this case, the OSB website), and the only information
they provide the site is that you want to see the members' bulletin
board. No personal data is transmitted, ever. You can remove the cookie
by clicking again at the top of the page, when the link says "Remove".
A cookie is specific to the computer and the browser that you set it
on. If you want to see the members' home-page bulletin board on another
computer you'll have to register it as well. If you specifically
disallow cookies on your computer you won't be able to use this feature.
You'll always be able to see a full bulletin board on the
Players' Page, and you can see all events, future and past, on the
calendar that is linked at the bottom of the bulletin board.
